The customer had an existing concrete slab but needed more room for a new shed. One side was too close to the fence, and the other sloped downward—making expansion tricky without proper support
To address the slope, The York Handyman built a sturdy box frame on the downhill side, allowing us to fill with compacted stone and pour a level concrete pad on top. This created a stable, extended surface ready for the shed.
The new slab is clean, level, and built to last. It extends the original footprint while maintaining proper drainage and structural integrity. The customer may eventually backfill the edges with dirt for a seamless look
With the concrete cured and ready, The York Handyman assembled and placed the shed securely on the extended pad. The result is a functional, well-supported structure that maximizes yard space and adds long-term value.
The original wood steps built into the hillside were showing signs of wear—boards were weathered, and water runoff from the yard was causing erosion and pooling. The concrete step at the base had also begun to deteriorate, adding to the safety and aesthetic concerns.
To solve the water issue and restore the steps, The York Handyman rebuilt the entire staircase with fresh, pressure-treated lumber. We enclosed the sides to prevent water from washing through and added a sloped wood deck landing at the top—designed to divert rainwater away from the steps. The concrete step at the bottom was resurfaced for a clean, durable finish.
The new steps are not only structurally sound but also built with water control in mind. The enclosed sides and sloped deck work together to keep runoff at bay, protecting the hillside and extending the life of the build. With the resurfaced concrete step anchoring the base, this upgrade blends function and curb appeal—ready to handle the elements and foot traffic for years to come.
